Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has joined the film industry in mourning the tragic loss of Zeenat Balogun, daughter of veteran actor Saidi Balogun.

In an emotional tribute shared on her Instagram, Laide Bakare posted a TikTok video of herself and Zeenat from a recent movie set. She expressed disbelief at the sudden news, describing Zeenat as an active and healthy young woman. Laide revealed that she was shocked to wake up to rumors about her death, especially since they had worked together just last month. She tried to reach out to Saidi Balogun, but was unable to get in contact with him.

In her tribute to Zeenat, Laide Bakare wrote, “Woke up to some negative hearsay about @Zeenatbalogun. This was just on set last month; a very active and healthy young lady; how can she be gone? What’s going on? This is not clear o!! I tried @saidibalogun immediately, couldn’t reach him. E gba mi! Ki Lon Se le?? Deleting post soon Abeg!”

Earlier, Saidi Balogun had shared a photo of a candlelight vigil with heartbroken emojis on his Instagram page, leading to an outpouring of condolence messages from his colleagues in the entertainment industry.

This devastating loss comes after other recent tragedies within the entertainment community. In August, actor Francis Duru announced the heartbreaking death of his son, Ifeanyi, describing him as a “lion” who fought for his life. Similarly, comedian Aphrican Ace and his wife grieved the loss of their newborn son, who passed away due to a bacterial infection. Last year, skitmaker Olagunju Solomon Olamide, also known as Akika, mourned the death of his son on Father’s Day.

The Nollywood community continues to send their condolences and prayers to Saidi Balogun and his family during this difficult time.
