Anambra Unfolds New Order Against Monday Sit-At-Home (Video)
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a strong warning to business owners in the state, stating that any shop or shopping plaza that remains closed on Mondays due to the sit-at-home order will be sealed off by the government.
Soludo made this declaration in response to the lingering observance of the sit-at-home directive in Anambra that was originally initiated by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The sit-at-home order, which was introduced years ago, has significantly affected economic activities in Anambra and the Southeast, with businesses, schools, and markets shutting down every Monday in compliance.
Despite the order no longer being officially endorsed by IPOB, the fear of violence and reprisals has led many residents, including shop owners, to continue observing it.
Governor Soludo, determined to revive normalcy in Anambra State, emphasized that the continuation of the Monday closures is detrimental to the state’s economy and must stop. He warned that any store or shopping complex that fails to open for business on Mondays will face sanctions, including the sealing of their premises.

Soludo’s administration has been working to restore confidence in the safety and security of the people, encouraging them to go about their daily activities without fear.
This new directive marks a bold step by the Anambra State government to put an end to the disruptive practice, as the sit-at-home order continues to impact education, commerce, and overall socio-economic development in the Southeast.
