Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has weighed in on the ongoing leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as an “exciting drama” to watch.

Nigerians woke up on Friday to reports of a deepening leadership crisis within the PDP with two factions emerging from the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The crisis escalated when one faction, led by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, announced the suspension of National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN).

This was confirmed in a statement issued by the PDP’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, who revealed that a committee headed by Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, had been set up to investigate the allegations against the suspended officers.

However, the crisis took another turn when the opposing faction, loyal to Ajibade, swiftly retaliated by suspending Damagum and the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, accusing them of disloyalty and undermining the interests of the PDP.

In response, Ologunagba, in his own statement, declared that Damagum and Anyanwu had been suspended from their respective positions, further intensifying the turmoil within the party’s leadership.

Reacting to the unfolding events, Fayose took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his thoughts. The former governor, known for his outspoken nature, likened the situation to an unfolding drama, urging Nigerians to sit back and watch how the crisis plays out.

“PDP: It is becoming such an exciting drama,” Fayose wrote. “Let’s siddon dey look and see how it ends.”

The escalating conflict within the PDP’s top ranks has left many political observers wondering about the party’s future direction, as both factions continue to trade suspensions and accusations.
