The Presidency has once again released an official statement concerning the recent trip of President Bola Tinubu from the UK to Paris, France.

The response followed public speculation surrounding Tinubu’s trip from the United Kingdom to France, raising questions about his travel itinerary.

The presidency clarified that Tinubu remains on his two-week vacation and is not confined to a specific location during his break and could well undertake any trip in the course of his vacation.

President Tinubu initially left Abuja on October 2 for what was described as a working vacation in the UK, aimed at reflecting on his administration’s economic reforms. However, President Tinubu’s unannounced trip to France raised curiosity among Nigerians, prompting the need for an official statement.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, addressed the concerns, emphasizing that the President’s leave grants him the freedom to travel wherever he chooses.

“President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time, and he can go anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave,” Onanuga explained.

Before departing for France, President Tinubu held a private meeting with his Special Assistant, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, at his residence in the UK. Masari later confirmed the meeting via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, sharing that they discussed important issues before proceeding to Paris.

The Presidency had earlier announced that the President’s two-week vacation was part of his yearly leave, but his recent trip beyond the UK have now become a topic of public discourse, further highlighting the nation’s keen interest in Tinubu’s movements during his time away from official duties.
