Tinubu departs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left the United Kingdom (UK) for Paris, France, where he is expected to attend a crucial engagement.

The new trip comes in the middle of Tinubu’s two-week working vacation in the UK, which began on October 2.

The development was confirmed by Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the President’s Special Assistant on Political and other matters, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, @KabirIbrah64.

Masari disclosed that he had the privilege of visiting President Tinubu at his private residence in the UK, where they held fruitful discussions before the President departed for Paris.

“I had the honor of visiting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at his private residence in the United Kingdom, where we engaged in productive discussions. We then departed for Paris, France, for another important engagement,” Masari posted.

President Tinubu’s vacation in the UK was described as a working retreat intended to allow him time to reflect on the economic reforms his administration has implemented since assuming office. His Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, previously announced the President’s plan to take the two-week break, noting it would also serve as part of Tinubu’s annual leave.

“On October 2, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week vacation, part of his yearly leave. He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms,” Onanuga’s earlier statement read.

Tinubu’s visit to Paris signals an important engagement in the midst of his working retreat, though details of the specific nature of the Paris meetings have yet to be disclosed. His vacation to the UK and now, France comes as his administration continues to implement key economic policies aimed at stabilizing the Nigerian economy, following the removal of fuel subsidies and other market-based reforms.
