Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has shared the shocking details of the transportation arrangements made by Libyan authorities for the Super Eagles following their 16-hour ordeal at Al Abraq Airport.

The Super Eagles team had been stranded at the remote airport after their chartered flight, originally scheduled to land in Benghazi for their 2025 AFCON qualifier, was abruptly rerouted.

In a video posted on social media, super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface showcased the outdated shuttle bus provided by Libyan officials to transport the team from the airport to their hotel, which is a grueling three-hour drive away. The striker humorously dubbed the vehicle an “Iskaba bus,” a reference to its poor condition, noting that none of the players dared to board it.

“See Iskaba bus wey them bring come yesterday. Nobody enter ooo,” the 23-year-old wrote in Pidgin, expressing the team’s reluctance to use the dilapidated vehicle.

The Super Eagles have been caught in a logistical nightmare since arriving in Libya for their second-leg AFCON qualifying clash against the Mediterranean Knights, scheduled for Tuesday, October 15. Despite winning the first leg 1-0 on Friday, October 11, thanks to an 87th-minute strike by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, their preparations for the return encounter have been marred by disorganization from the host nation.

The Libyan Football Federation has faced heavy criticism for failing to meet the Nigerian team upon arrival or arrange proper transportation. The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is currently working to resolve the issue, but the situation has raised concerns about the safety and welfare of the Super Eagles in Libya.
