The embattled acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Ambassador Ilyasu Damagum has been charged to react to the rumour that he met with President Bola Tinubu in London last week.

Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan put the charge on Sunday as he accused Damagum of fueling the crisis in the party by refusing to revert to his position as substantive deputy national chairman of the party.

GWG.ng reports that Ologbondiyan spoke against the background of the latest crisis in the party that has led to the suspension and counter suspensions by different factions of the national leadership.

Ologbondiyan who insisted that Damagum had been properly suspended accused him of working to frustrate the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party scheduled to hold later in the month of October.

Noting the cloud of suspicions around the acting National Chairman as concerning his alleged romance with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ologbondiyan asked him to respond to reports that he met with President Tinubu in London.

“There is allegation in the public space that he had a meeting with the president last week in London and who has not even uttered a word to say it is a lie or it is true,” Ologbondiyan said in an interview on Arise News Television monitored by GWG.ng

Debunking claims that Damagum was not properly suspended, Ologbondiyan said that the NWC under the embattled acting national chairman had adopted the system of virtual meetings, the same platform he alleged could have been used in effecting the suspension of Damagum.

“He was suspended by his own colleagues in the National Working Committee, NWC. This national working committee has been conducting virtual meetings because that has been their pattern of holding meetings,” he affirmed.
