Manchester United Parts Ways With Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United have decided to part ways with Sir Alex Ferguson as part of ongoing cost-cutting measures under the leadership of new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Since retiring from managing the club in 2013, Ferguson has held the roles of global ambassador and club director, reportedly earning a substantial six-figure salary annually.

Despite Ferguson’s legendary status and contributions to the club, sources indicate that the decision to end his role was made after a direct conversation between Ferguson and Ratcliffe. The club have emphasized that, although his ambassadorial and director duties will conclude at the end of this season, Sir Alex will always be welcome at Old Trafford.

This move is part of a larger plan by Ratcliffe to reduce operational costs while allocating more resources toward strengthening the team. As part of these efforts, Manchester United have already laid off over 250 employees, with expected annual savings of around £10 million.

The decision follows the club’s recent financial report, which revealed a net loss of £113 million last month. This brings Manchester United close to the Premier League’s limit of £115 million in losses over three years, a development that may have led to the decision on Alex Ferguson. Despite the financial challenges, the club remains committed to adhering to league regulations.
