School Grieves As Student Dies Shortly After Predicting Death
A Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3) student at St Louis Girls’ Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State, Boluwatife Oladipo, tragically passed away after collapsing during school hours after predicting her death.
The 12-year-old reportedly predicted her own death shortly before the incident.
According to local reports, the young girl fainted last Tuesday after telling her classmates that she felt like she was going to die. Eyewitnesses said Boluwatife was playing with her friends when she made unusual remarks, stating she felt death was near. She even mentioned that she had asked her mother to have more children, but her request had been ignored.
After these disturbing remarks, Boluwatife collapsed and was rushed to the school clinic, where first aid was administered. She was later taken to the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH) in Akure, where doctors confirmed her death upon arrival.
One of her teachers, who spoke about the incident, said it seemed the girl had a sense of her impending death. “Last Tuesday, classes were ongoing when we were alerted that a JSS 3 student had fainted. We quickly rushed to attend to her,” the teacher recalled. She added that Boluwatife had been playing with her friends before the Mathematics class, and when the bell rang, they all ran back to the classroom.
“When the Mathematics teacher arrived, she put her head on the desk. Her classmates, concerned, went to check on her, and she raised her head and told them, ‘I want to die,’” the teacher explained. The students immediately alerted the teacher, who rushed to her. By then, Boluwatife reportedly repeated her wish to die.
Despite efforts to save her, the student was taken to the school clinic and later to UNIMEDTH, where doctors noted she appeared “paper white” due to a severe shortage of blood. A blood transfusion was initiated, but tragically, she passed away during the process.
After her death, some teachers visited Boluwatife’s family. Her mother revealed that it had taken years to conceive her and that she was the family’s first child. She also mentioned that Boluwatife had been urging her to have another child. On the morning of her death, Boluwatife told her father she would be traveling abroad for her Senior Secondary School education and hugged him goodbye.
The girl’s mother also revealed a strange occurrence on that tragic day. She saw a figure resembling a ghost walking past in their home early in the morning, and after informing her husband, they prayed together.
This heartbreaking incident of the death of the Ondo student has left the school community and Boluwatife’s family in deep shock and grief.
