Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, has expressed deep sadness over the tanker explosion that occurred in Majiya town, located in the Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

According to reports, the explosion took place around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. It is said that the tanker had fallen, which led villagers to gather fuel before the explosion happened.

In a statement from Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Shettima announced that the federal government would take immediate action. He emphasized the need for a thorough review of safety protocols for fuel transportation throughout Nigeria.

The Vice President also praised the first responders and medical staff for their hard work, saying their commitment “exemplifies the best of our nation’s spirit.”

Shettima extended his prayers to the families of those affected, hoping that Almighty Allah provides them with the strength to cope with their loss. He stated, “My heart aches for those who have had their families torn apart by this disaster.”

He added, “This devastating incident has shaken us all to our core. The Federal Government stands with the people of Jigawa. We are mobilizing all necessary resources to support the injured and assist the families affected by this calamity.”

The tragedy in Majiya has left the entire nation grieving. In response, the Vice President has ordered the immediate deployment of personnel and resources from the National Emergency Management Agency (@nemanigeria) to Jigawa State.
