The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has indefinitely suspended Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar after a lengthy investigation into her actions.

According to a statement released by AGN on Friday, the investigation revealed that Halima Abubakar was allegedly responsible for spreading damaging news about actors and high-profile individuals online.

AGN accused Halima Abubakar of being the main source of rumors involving extramarital affairs, which linked influential people in society to Nollywood stars. As a result, the Guild stated that she would appear before a disciplinary panel to face further consequences. During the suspension period, she is banned from filming or participating in any movie-related activities.

The Guild’s statement explained, “After a thorough investigation by the Secret Investigation Panel, it was uncovered that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind the slanderous information regarding our members, associates, and patrons, particularly about extramarital affairs involving prominent individuals in society.”

Consequently, AGN announced her indefinite suspension and stressed that Halima would face the National Disciplinary Committee for further punishment. “She is not allowed to participate in any AGN or filming activities,” the statement added.

The Guild further mentioned that its National and State Chapter Taskforces had been directed to ensure compliance with the suspension order. Violating these rules could lead to more disciplinary measures.

AGN also acknowledged that besides Halima Abubakar that other female members were still being monitored. The statement said that efforts were also being made to punish those involved in the recent rumors about the Senate President.
