Oyo 2027: Media Storm Trails Olaosebikan’s Plea For Oke Ogun
Kehinde Olaosebikan, former Chief Press Secretary to the erstwhile governor of Oyo State, late Alhaji Lam Adesina, caused a stir on social media yesterday as various reactions have continued to trail his call for Oke Ogun indigenes to rally around and present a single candidate for the next governorship election in Oyo state.
In what looks like Stirling up an honest’s nest, Olaosebikan’s advice, which was contained in his tribute to Chief Michael Koleosho, former SSG in Oyo state, has continued to generate differing viewpoints from various segments of the state.
While it was considered timely advice to gear the Oke Ogun people up to work in unison towards the next elections, in another breadth, it was perceived as pragmatically instructive for the political parties and their godfathers to understand the present reality of the state and guide plans.
From reactions monitored on social media, politicians from the Oke Ogun axis were full of encomiums for the write-up, which they said hit the nail on the head without bias or tribal sentiments.
You may recall that Alhaji Olaosebikan, who hails from Ibadan, wrote interalia;
“Of the three major zones in the state, Ibadan, Oke Og, n and Ogbomosho, it is only Oke-Ogun that has not produced the state governor since the commencement of the fourth Republic in 1999.
Oke Ogun with 10 local government areas is second to Ibadan with 11 local government areas, and Ogbomoso is third having 5 local government areas. Oyo has 4 local government areas while Ibarapa has 3 local government areas.
Ibadan has produced all the governors since 1999 except the late governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala from Ogbomosho, “
The former CPS described, Michael Koleosho, the late Babalaje of Saki as a selfless politician who believed in the unity and progress of Oyo State and it would be an honour to the great politician if the next governor of oyo State comes from the axis.
The controversy is still raging in the social media circle…..
Alhaji Waheed O. Lawal, a prominent political leader in Oke-Ogun wrote on his Facebook page:
Oyo Governorship 2027
Kudos to Alh Hon. Kehinde Olaosebikan for boldly speaking in favour of the power shift come 2027!
With his rich experience as a media personality, activist, democrat, former local government chairman and gubernatorial aspirant, his words carry significant weight.
Olaosebikan’s dedication to justice, equity, and fairness is truly commendable. His call to unity is timely – let’s join forces with other zones, including Ibadan, to achieve a power shift.
He has spoken his mind and it’s on record that he is not aversed to political power shift to other zones outside Ibadan. When it becomes a reality, people like this should not be forgotten. It’s very rare to see gubernatorial material from a section of the state saying that others should get ready to occupy the Agodi Government House.
We’re grateful for leaders like Olaosebikan who prioritize the greater good over personal ambition.
