Many Nigerian footballers playing abroad made important contributions to their clubs last weekend, either by scoring goals or providing assists to help their teams earn points. Familiar names like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Samuel Chukwueze once again found the back of the net for their respective teams.

Here are some of the top-performing Nigerian footballers from last weekend:

Sunday, October 20
Tolu Arokodare (Genk 3-2 Sint-Truiden):
Tolu Arokodare had an outstanding game for Genk, helping his team secure a 3-2 win against Sint-Truiden in Belgium’s First Division A. He opened the scoring in the 18th minute with help from Bonsu Baah and later provided an assist for El Ouahdi’s goal just before halftime. With this performance, Arokodare now has seven goals, making him the top scorer in the league.

Moses Simon (Nantes 1-1 Nice):
Moses Simon continued his great form for Nantes, delivering an important assist during their 1-1 draw with OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1. Simon set up Abline’s goal, which gave Nantes a 1-0 lead in the 67th minute before Nice equalized later. Simon has been a key player for Nantes this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in seven matches.

Saturday, October 19
Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray 3-0 Antalyaspor):
Victor Osimhen made a strong comeback from injury by scoring a brilliant overhead kick in Galatasaray’s 3-0 win over Antalyaspor. Although he started the game on the bench, his impact was huge, bringing his tally to three goals and four assists in five games since joining on loan from Napoli.

Joe Aribo (Southampton 1-4 Leicester City):
In the Premier League, Joe Aribo scored for Southampton after being out of action for six months. However, his goal wasn’t enough to prevent Southampton from losing, as Leicester City staged a strong comeback to win the game.

Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan 1-0 Udinese):
Samuel Chukwueze ended his eight-game goal drought by scoring the winning goal for AC Milan in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A. This crucial goal not only earned Milan valuable points but also marked an important moment in Chukwueze’s season.

Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt):
In the German Bundesliga, Victor Boniface experienced both highs and lows. He missed a penalty but later redeemed himself by scoring a last-minute winner for Bayer Leverkusen in their 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. With eight goals in nine Bundesliga games this season, Boniface has been crucial for his team under coach Xabi Alonso.

Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge 2-1 win):
In Belgium, Raphael Onyedika helped his team with an assist for the opening goal in Club Brugge’s 2-1 victory. The 23-year-old midfielder has now provided two assists in all competitions this season.

These players showcased their talent and importance to their clubs with strong performances last weekend.
