The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the schedule for the 2024 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the second round of the exam will take place from Friday, October 25, to Friday, December 20, 2024.

WAEC explained that this year’s exam will be conducted in a hybrid format. This means that multiple-choice questions will appear on-screen, and candidates will provide their answers directly on the computer. However, for essay and practical sections, the questions will also be shown on-screen, but candidates will be required to write their answers in the answer booklets provided.

Additionally, for candidates who prefer the traditional method, WAEC has introduced an option to take the entire exam using paper and pen.

The Council also announced an extension of the registration period. All candidates who wish to register now have until Tuesday, October 29, 2024, to complete their registration. WAEC also stated that a “Walk-in-Candidate” option is available, which allows candidates to register up to 24 hours before the exam they plan to take. The final exam timetable is available for download on the WAEC Nigeria website.

The Council encouraged all candidates to take advantage of the learning tools it has provided. “All intending, as well as registered, candidates are advised to take advantage of the numerous learning resources provided by the Council. These include signing up on the WAEC e-Study platform, purchasing the WAEC Past Questions and Answers books, and joining other candidates to interact on the WAECKonnect platform.”

In conclusion, WAEC wished all candidates success in the upcoming exams and assured them that it is committed to using technology to improve its services and make them more accessible to everyone. “WAEC will always seek ways of delivering on its mandate by deploying technological innovations to make its services easily accessible to all stakeholders,” the statement added.
