The management of Rosebud School in Idimu, Lagos, has expelled three students in response to a violent incident involving their father, Ayofe Kolawole, who assaulted a teacher and a sanitary worker on October 10, 2024.

The expulsion was confirmed by the school’s Public Relations Officer, Vivian Shonekan. It followed the circulation of a shocking video showing the 44-year-old Kolawole attacking two women staff inside a classroom.

In the disturbing footage, Kolawole was seen physically assaulting Agnes Paul, a sanitary worker, while Elizabeth Ogri, the teacher filmed the incident out of fear for her safety. As Kolawole noticed he was being recorded, he redirected his aggression towards Ogri, attempting to prevent her from documenting the assault.- GWG.ng reported.

Despite the Kolawole family later returning to apologize and seek a settlement, Shonekan emphasized that the school stood firm in its decision to expel Kolawole’s children. “There was no issue with settling, but the school firmly decided that their three children could not return,” she stated.

Agnes Paul, a mother of four, shared the trauma she experienced during the attack, revealing that she continues to suffer from injuries. “I’ve been coughing at night and experiencing chest pain. The school has been covering my hospital bills, but I need further tests,” Paul explained.

The altercation reportedly arose from a misunderstanding two days prior when one of Kolawole’s children complained of feeling unwell. Ogri had provided first aid by closing windows and turning off the fan to help the child. However, Kolawole later accused Ogri of attempting to harm his child with what he described as a “black substance”—a misinterpretation of kernel oil that Ogri had used to treat a whitlow on her fingernail.

Despite Ogri’s clarification, Kolawole insisted she sign an undertaking stating that the oil was not fetish. Although she initially refused, she eventually signed under pressure, which led to the violent confrontation depicted in the viral video.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Kolawole has been arrested and arraigned in court on charges of physical assault. Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin reported that the case is being taken seriously, reflecting the school’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its staff.
