Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is gearing up for his next fight, which will be against either Daniel Dubois or Tyson Fury.

This news comes shortly after Joshua’s latest attempt to reclaim the heavyweight title, which ended in an unexpected and dramatic defeat.

In their recent bout at Wembley Stadium, where around 98,000 fans gathered to watch, Dubois managed to knock Joshua down several times, surprising many in the boxing world.

The fight reached a decisive end in the fifth round when Dubois delivered a powerful right-hand punch, sending Joshua to the canvas and marking the fourth loss of his professional career.

Following this defeat, Joshua is now focused on regaining his world champion title. Hearn has suggested that a rematch with Dubois might take place on February 22, 2025, as Joshua works to redeem himself.

Though a rematch with Dubois is being considered, Hearn has also hinted that a fight with Tyson Fury is a real possibility. The idea of Joshua facing Fury has sparked fan excitement for years, and such a matchup would be highly anticipated.

“It’s an odd sentiment to express following a knockout defeat, but AJ is positioning himself quite well,” Hearn commented in an interview with BBC Sport. “We are focused on fighting either Dubois or Fury next. There are no alternative options or warm-up fights on our agenda.”

Meanwhile, Fury is scheduled to face unified champion Oleksandr Usyk on December 21. Fury’s last encounter with Usyk, which took place in May, ended in a loss, adding intensity to their upcoming match.
