Student Dies After Reported 164 Lashes By Teacher (Video)
In a tragic incident at Obada Grammar School in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, a teenage student, Monday Ariyo, reportedly died after allegedly being flogged 164 times by a teacher.
The incident began when Ariyo commented about a dustbin brought into the classroom, stating, “Is it not our money they used to buy it?” His remark reportedly angered the teacher, who escalated the matter to the school principal.
According to reports, the principal instructed the teacher to discipline Ariyo, leading to the intense punishment.
Witnesses allege the teacher administered 164 strokes, after which the young student collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his condition continued to worsen, and he ultimately passed away.
A video circulating online captured the somber moment his body was transferred into an ambulance at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta.
The incident drew immediate attention on social media, with activist @justadetoun on Instagram sharing the story and calling for justice. Adetoun, who traveled to Abeokuta upon hearing the news, warned against any hasty burial and urged authorities in Ogun State to conduct a thorough investigation and hold those responsible accountable.
