Atiku Tasks Tinubu To Immortalise Humphery Nwosu
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his condolences to the family of Professor Humphrey Nwosu, who passed away in the United States on Friday.
In a statement on Sunday, Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate for the 2023 election, conveyed his sorrow at the loss of Nwosu, who served as Chairman of the now-defunct National Electoral Commission and oversaw the historic June 12, 1993 election won by the late Chief MKO Abiola, which was later annulled by the military government.
Atiku lamented that Nwosu’s passing comes at a time when Nigeria continues to struggle with achieving credible elections. He remembered Nwosu as a brilliant intellect whose innovative approaches helped navigate the numerous challenges imposed by the military regime on electoral management.
Atiku urged the Federal Government to honour Nwosu’s legacy in electoral reform and management, advocating a fitting tribute to his contributions. He also prayed for comfort for Nwosu’s family and for his soul to rest in peace.
