A young woman named Precious Yusuf was tragically found dead along a roadside in Asaba, Delta State, specifically across from Falcon Club.

Her body was discovered partially clothed, with a black and white cloth covering her waist, leading to suspicions of possible mutilation for ritualistic reasons.

Precious reportedly left home on October 22, 2024, to meet with a man she had connected with on the iHappy Dating site. She had informed a friend about her plan to visit this individual at Koka Junction in Asaba, but she never returned. On the morning of October 23, she briefly called her friend, saying she was on her way back. Sadly, that was the last anyone heard from her before her body was discovered the following day.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued a statement about the incident, expressing sympathy for Precious’s family. He confirmed that the DPO of Asaba’s A Division, CSP Rex Abiodun, promptly led a team to the scene after a distress call alerted them to the body’s location.

The statement read: “Delta State Police Command condoles with the family of Miss Precious Yusuf, 23, whose corpse was found along DLA Road opposite Falcon Club Asaba. On the 24th of October 2024, at about 0840 hours, the DPO of A Division received a distress call that the corpse of a young lady was found at DLA Road opposite Falcon Club. Preliminary investigation revealed that on 22nd October, she told her friend that she was going to see a male friend she met on iHappy dating website.”

An autopsy is pending, and the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has assured the public, and Precious’s family, that a full investigation is underway. He stressed the importance of caution in online dating, urging young women to be wary of meeting strangers from dating sites and social media platforms.
