Tope Alabi Condemns “Fake Love” Among Gospel Artistes

Gospel singer Tope Alabi has spoken out about what she perceives as widespread “fake love” among gospel artistes in the music industry.

Tope shared her concerns on Sunday in Ibadan during the ‘Celebrating Jesus 7.0’ concert.

Before her performance, she expressed frustration with the amount of jealousy and rivalry she has noticed among her fellow gospel musicians. She emphasized the need for established and rising artistes to support each other and foster unity.

Tope Alabi urged her more experienced colleagues to remember the importance of their legacy and their accountability to God, rather than focusing solely on fame and success. “God will hold us accountable for these things,” she said. “Let us stop it. It is high time we know that we are working for the kingdom and not for ourselves or fame. The bigger ones separated themselves from the up and coming. And yet the bigger ones still fight themselves again, what do you want those coming up to do?”

She further highlighted how emerging artistes are beginning to emulate the same negative behaviors they observe. “The emerging ones are already against each other,” she noted. “These children coming up are already backstabbing and emulating us because we started it. They are enemies to each other and smile with one another; they are faking it. This is getting out of hand, and God will ask us.”
