Breaking: Suspended RCCG Pastor Reacts To Homosexuality Allegations

Ayorinde AdeBello, a pastor suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has publicly denied accusations of homosexuality, which led to his suspension along with another pastor.

The allegations were addressed in an RCCG memo dated October 28, 2024.

The church’s national overseer, Sunday Akande, signed the memo, emphasizing that RCCG upholds strict adherence to biblical teachings and does not tolerate acts of homosexuality. The memo also indicated that both pastors would be temporarily relieved of their duties pending a thorough investigation.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, AdeBello refuted the allegations, stating, “I never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers.” He explained that his initial silence on the matter had been misinterpreted as an “admission of guilt,” prompting him to come forward with a clarification.

AdeBello addressed a viral WhatsApp screenshot that had fueled the allegations, asserting that the message was taken out of context. He claimed that the conversation in question took place within a WhatsApp group for male teenagers, where discussions focused on male reproductive health and self-esteem.

“In the past few days, certain allegations against me and others were circulated on social media by a blog known as Gist Lover,” his statement began. “I initially refrained from responding upon advice, as I wasn’t the only one mentioned, and it seemed like the accusations aimed to drive engagement on the blog.”

However, he felt compelled to break his silence as the situation escalated into criminal claims. “I have NEVER demanded or exchanged sexual favors for assistance, platforms, or positions. God alone is the King Maker, the one who elevates and demotes, grants positions, and provides platforms.”

AdeBello categorically denied having any sexual relations or making such propositions, adding that the conversation from the viral screenshot involved a group discussion on reproductive health. He explained that the teenagers were being educated on topics such as personal hygiene and choosing.
