Hearn Hints At Potential All-British Clash Between Joshua and Fury

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, says Joshua is open to a fight with Tyson Fury as he considers his next steps.

Following his recent loss to Daniel Dubois, Joshua’s path back to the top of the heavyweight division remains uncertain.

Joshua’s defeat by knockout in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium in September was a tough setback. This has raised questions about how he will navigate his comeback in the competitive heavyweight field. Despite the loss, Hearn still calls Joshua “arguably the biggest star in the heavyweight division.”

Hearn believes that regardless of how Fury’s fight with Oleksandr Usyk goes on December 21, Fury would be interested in a future match with Joshua. “I think Fury, win or lose, will want to fight AJ next, and that’s something we’ve got to decide,” Hearn told Sky Sports, hinting at the possibility of this highly anticipated British showdown.

On the other hand, Tyson Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren, expressed doubts about Joshua’s immediate future. He believes Joshua needs to regain credibility before he can take on major fights. “He’s got to establish some credibility, AJ, that’s for sure,” Warren said, emphasizing that Joshua has many challenges to overcome.

A rematch with Dubois seems unlikely, as Warren confirmed Dubois is preparing to defend his IBF title on February 22 against an opponent yet to be named. “I don’t see that (the Joshua rematch) happening next,” Warren said, adding that they’re currently exploring other options.
