Published

on

While dish soap may seem like a quick and easy solution, the chemicals that make it so good at making dishes sparkle, can do more harm than good for you to wash some things.

Here are six things that you should not use dish soap to wash.

Cars

Dish soap strips away the protective wax and can actually dull or damage the paint over time, leaving it more vulnerable to scratches and fading and bringing down the value of your car.

Leather

Dish soap can strip away the natural oils that maintain leather , which can cause it to dry and crack.

Pets

Don’t use dish soap to wash your cat or  dog, or any pet for that matter. Stick to regular pet shampoo for the task and avoid lowering the quality of the life of your pet by dish soap.

Your hair

Soap is not a good replacement for shampoo or body wash—in other words, it’s not for human use or bathing.

Clothing

Don’t use dish soap to  launder clothe. It doesn’t rinse properly from clothing and could cause skin irritation.

Silk

You should use a detergent specifically designed for silk instead of dish wash. You can also use a mild baby shampoo mixed with a little splash of vinegar,.
