Lagos Police Detain Man Whose Dogs Killed Estate Guard
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a dog owner after three of his dogs allegedly killed a security guard in the Lekki area.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday night at Pinnock Estate. It was reported that the dogs escaped because they were not properly chained and attacked the security guard, leading to his death.
A video shared on social media showed the three dogs surrounding the lifeless body of the victim. The post’s caption explained that the resident had failed to secure the dogs properly, allowing them to escape and kill the guard.
Following the incident, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest of the dog owner, though his identity has not been disclosed. Hundeyin responded to a tweet by @Ade_yinkar, who had questioned whether the authorities would take action, by stating, “The dog owner has been arrested and is in our custody.”
The PPRO also shared a section of the Nigerian Constitution, which describes failing to take necessary precautions to prevent danger from animals as a reckless and negligent act.
Hundeyin assured the public that investigations into the incident are ongoing to uncover further details.
