The National Assembly Service Commission has appointed Kamoru Ogunlana as the new Clerk of the National Assembly. He replaces Sani Magaji Tambuwal, who has begun his retirement leave.

This news was shared on Thursday in a statement by Emmanuel Anyigor, the Deputy Director of Information at the National Assembly Commission. The appointment letter, signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Engr. Ahmed Kadi, confirmed that Ogunlana’s term will start on January 2, 2025.

The letter stated: “The National Assembly Service Commission NASC at its 610th meeting held on Wednesday, 6th November, 2024, approved your appointment as Clerk to the National Assembly CNA, with effect from 2nd February, 2025.” It highlighted that Ogunlana was chosen due to his proven dedication and strong administrative skills. The letter also encouraged him to work diligently to justify the trust placed in him.

Previously, it was reported that about thirty senior officials, including Tambuwal, are expected to retire. This follows President Bola Tinubu’s decision not to approve a bill that would have extended their service.

By standard procedure, Tambuwal began his pre-retirement leave on November 1, 2024, after handing over his duties to his deputy, Kamouroudeen Ogundele.
