Tinubu Reappoints NBRDA DG
President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Mustapha as the Director-General of Nigeria’s National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) for a second five-year term.
The reappointment, effective October 31, 2024, was confirmed in a statement from Toyin Omozuwa, Press Secretary to the NBRDA, following an official letter from the Secretary to the Government, George Akume.
This decision aligns with the provisions of the National Biotechnology Development Agency Act of 2022 and reflects President Tinubu’s confidence in Mustapha’s leadership and commitment to advancing Nigeria’s biotechnology sector. Known for his work in Bioinorganic Chemistry, Mustapha is anticipated to lead initiatives in pharmaceutical production, agricultural innovation, and food security—key areas crucial for Nigeria’s participation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Mustapha’s continued role is expected to drive significant progress in biotechnology, an area the administration sees as essential to economic growth and sustainability.
