Atalanta Offer Lookman New Deal, Block PSG From Talks
Atalanta is working to secure the future of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman by offering him a new contract that could keep him at the Gewiss Stadium until 2027.
Reports from Bergamo & Sports journalist Luciano Rota reveal that the club is eager to improve Lookman’s current contract due to growing interest from top European football clubs.
To prevent Lookman from leaving, Atalanta plans to double his salary to around €3.5 million per year. Lookman, 27, caught the attention of many clubs this summer, and it was reported that he had reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, the current Ligue 1 champions. However, Atalanta stepped in to block the transfer, showing their intention to keep him in their squad.
Lookman’s impressive start to the 2024/25 season has further increased his value, and he is expected to draw interest from major European clubs again during the next summer transfer window. His profile has been rising, as he recently placed 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings and is a strong contender for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Having joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman has become a key part of their attack. With two years remaining on his current contract, the club’s efforts to secure his future demonstrate their commitment to keeping him and their belief in his importance for the team’s long-term goals.
