‘Igbo’ Nurse Gets Japa Job Offer After Being Threatened With Sack, Deportation From Lagos
By Emmanuel Aziken
A Nigerian nurse Gold Ugbede employed by the Lagos State government, has been hounded into a lucrative foreign job by Yoruba zealots after she made scathing remarks about ‘dirty Lagos’.
Nurse Ugbede who is Igala from Northern Nigeria had been wrongly assumed to be Igbo and had been hounded with a sack and deportation from Lagos for her impolitic assertion of claiming Lagos to be dirty.
Explaining why Nurse was trending on Monday afternoon, twitter user, Trending posted thus:
Nurse is trending because Yoruba tribalism influencers have successfully dragged a nurse into bagging a fully sponsored ‘japa’ to Europe or US.
Nurse Gold Ugbede who was assumed to be an Igbo lady, casually complained about the dirtyness of Lagos and some people in the city.
Upcoming bigotry influencer, Bayo. Immediately took it up and called on Lagos state to terminate her employment and possibly deport her to her state or origin.
Interestingly, it went viral. And someone piqued an anonymous Samaritan’s interest who then told her to share her documents, and he’s ready to move her overseas to continue her job as a nurse, should anything happen to her job.
Cross was the middle man. He has now confirmed that, the Igala nurse, Ugbede has been connected to the helper.
Meanwhile the Bayo and his entourage have doubled down on their intents. They are planning to March to her work place.
She currently works at a government medical center at Ibeju Lekki.
GWG.ng reports that Nurse Ugbede had posted a comment on the state of Lagos thus:
Following the post, the Yoruba zealot, Bayo Obidient made a post tagging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu among other Lagosians to the irony of having a foreigner abusing them.
He posted thus demanding that Nurse Ugbede be sacked and deported to her region, apparently believing her to be Igbo.
Following the post, which went viral, a foreign agent sought out Nurse Ugbede for her CV for her employment in a foreign country should anything untoward happen to her present job in Lagos.
The offer has now resonated and further provoked discussion on the ethnic dynamics of working in Lagos for non-Yoruba people from Nigeria.
