Air Peace bird strike

To avoid a possible tragedy, Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading domestic air carrier was forced to abort its scheduled Lagos-Abuja flight on Thursday morning following what the ariline described as a bird strike.

Air Peace in a statement obtained by GWG.ng averred that the strike took place before take-off.

The  head of corporate communications, Dr Ejie Ndiulo who issued the statement disclosed GWG.ng reports that that the aircraft which he did not specify successfully returned to the ramp and that passengers successfully disembarked.

He said:

We wish to inform our esteemed passengers that our Abuja-Lagos 6.30 flight experienced a bird strike before take-off prompting a ramp return as a safety measure. All passengers disembarked normally.

We have deployed a replacement aircraft for the affected flight in order to minimise disruptions, thus ensuring that passengers continue their journeys promptly.

We appeal for the understanding of our valued passengers impacted by this development, as well as those on other flights that may experience delays.

At Air Peace, we are committed to providing safe, comfortable, and reliable air travel for all our passengers.

GWG.ng reports that the airline while apologising to the passengers, however, gave notice that the development was bound to cause delays in subsequent flights which may be delayed on account of the disruption of the early flight.

GWG.ng Aviation reports that the first flight of the day is normally the most reliable flight for most airlines and the disruption of this Air Peace morning flight on account of the bird strike would cascade into delays in subsequent flights.
