The Miss South Africa Organisation has announced that Mia Le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has withdrawn from the ongoing Miss Universe competition in Mexico City due to health challenges.

In a heartfelt statement, Mia Le Roux expressed her gratitude for the support she has received from South Africans, adding that the decision to step back was difficult but necessary. “I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me. However, I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength,” she stated.

The Miss South Africa Organisation also extended its full support to Mia, stating, “Her health and wellbeing are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side, dedicated to ensuring she regains her strength and returns to full h Our hearts are with her as she takes the necessary steps toward recovery.”

However, the news has sparked a flurry of reactions online, particularly from Nigerians, who seized the moment to troll South Africans on X (formerly Twitter). The backlash stems from a previous controversy surrounding Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina.

The 73rd edition of the Miss Universe pageant, featuring 127 contestants, continues in Mexico City, with Chidinma Adetshina representing Nigeria among the favorites. Meanwhile, the Miss South Africa Organisation has urged fans to respect Mia Le Roux’s privacy as she focuses on her recovery.
