In a heartfelt video circulating online, Sham’unu Ishaq, a first-class graduate in Education, Biology from Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina, revealed the harsh reality he has faced since graduating in July 2023 that has compelled him to selling water for survival

Despite his academic excellence of a first class degree, Ishaq has been unable to secure a job, leaving him to sell sachet water on the streets of Katsina just to survive.

“I graduated with no job, so I started selling sachet water for survival,” Ishaq explained in the video, describing the bleak conditions he faces daily. “Here in Katsina, there’s no opportunity to even do something meaningful to improve my life.” Displaying his notification of results, he shared how his daily income barely meets his basic needs, forcing him to live day-to-day with little chance to save for the future.

Appealing directly to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, Ishaq spoke about the toll his financial struggles have taken on both himself and his family. “As the governor can see, I graduated from university with no job, and poverty is trying to kill me,” the first class graduate said of his frustration over the lack of opportunities that has made him to a water seller.

Ishaq’s plea extended beyond the state government, as he appealed to Nigerians everywhere to help him rebuild his life and career. “This sachet water business is my only lifeline for now. I don’t need support just from the state government; I need help from Nigerians everywhere—north, south, east, or west. I am ready to work in any capacity,” he expressed.
