Nigeria's Ademola Lookman Breaks Atalanta's 70-year-goal Record

Italian Serie A club Atalanta has reportedly set a €50 million price tag on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The decision to set price tag on the Ballon d’Or nominee, Lookman, comes as the January transfer window approaches, with clubs already circling for the in-form striker.

Lookman, who attracted interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, opted to stay in Bergamo and has been a standout performer for Atalanta this season. The 27-year-old has delivered an impressive eight goals and five assists in 14 appearances across all competitions, further elevating his reputation.

With his current form, it is anticipated that more top European clubs will vie for his signature by next summer. Despite the rising interest, Lookman remains under contract with Atalanta until 2026, with the club retaining an option to extend the deal for an additional year.

The Nigerian international joined Atalanta from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 for a modest fee of €9.3 million. His remarkable impact since then has seen Lookman’s market value skyrocket, making him one of the most coveted players in Serie A, and hence the new price tag slapped by Atalanta.

As the January window nears, Atalanta’s firm valuation sends a clear message to potential suitors: Ademola Lookman will not come cheap.
