This visit is historic, as it is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s official trip in 2007, during which both nations established a strategic partnership.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to formally host Prime Minister Modi at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the two leaders will engage in bilateral discussions aimed at deepening ties between their nations.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, confirmed the visit in a statement on Saturday. He disclosed that both leaders would exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to boost collaboration across critical sectors, further solidifying their partnership.

GWG.ng reports that the visit of Modi to Nigeria is expected to energise the large base of Indian businesses in Nigeria in advancing further into the Nigerian economy at a time that Nigeria is grappling for help to steady its economy.
