Osun, Oyo Next On APC’s Southwest Agenda – Ganduje
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, announced that the party aims to gain political control over all the states in the southwest region of Nigeria with Oyo and Osun States next in its agenda.
He made this statement on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC the winner of the 2024 Ondo State governorship election.
Speaking in Akure, Ganduje emphasized that the party would work hard to ensure that every state in the southwest is governed by the APC. He said, “Our next target is this geo-political zone, the southwest geo-political zone, and you know we are good in hitting our targets, that is Osun State and Oyo State. We assure you that we will do all what is possible to bring them into the fold so that we have political homogeneity in the southwest geo-political zone.”
Ganduje also praised the fairness of the Ondo election, calling it a true demonstration of democracy. “There’s no doubt this is a moment of joy, seeing is believing, and this is democracy in action, but what is more important is that all the major stakeholders in conducting this election believe that the election is free, fair, and credible, especially INEC which provided the logistics arrangement, the manpower arrangement,” he said.
