The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned Governor Monday Okpebholo not to take credit for the construction of Temboga Road.

The party also cautioned the governor against claiming responsibility for other projects that were started and completed under his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.

In a statement released on Sunday, Chris Nehikhare, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, criticized Okpebholo for allegedly misleading the public by claiming that his government was starting work on the 7.5km Temboga Road, which it claimed was already completed during Obaseki’s administration.

Nehikhare accused the governor of trying to rewrite the history of Obaseki’s government and called on him to stop taking credit for projects that were not initiated by his administration. He urged Okpebholo to focus on fulfilling the promises he made during his campaign, rather than falsely claiming the accomplishments of others.

He said, “It is unfortunate that Senator Monday Okpebholo and his administration are starting with a bad reputation by deceiving the people of Edo State. They are falsely claiming credit for projects that were already completed by Governor Obaseki’s government.”

Nehikhare specifically pointed to the Temboga Road project, which he stated was initiated and finished by Obaseki’s administration. He described Okpebholo’s actions as “preposterous” and urged him to stop such behavior immediately.

The PDP spokesman emphasized that the people of Edo State deserve better than false claims and dishonesty. He concluded by calling on Okpebholo to focus on implementing his own projects that align with his administration’s vision for the state, if he has one.
