Gunmen Kill Lodger At Ogun Hotel

A young man in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his mother, an act suspected to be linked to ritual practices.

Community sources revealed that the man, who recently returned from Ghana, lured his mother to an unspecified location within the area. On their return, he reportedly moved behind her and stabbed her neck with a sharp knife.

A resident named Ovo explained, “People who heard her scream quickly intervened, overpowered him, and disabled one of his legs to prevent him from escaping. He was handed over to the police.”

According to Ovo, the police later transferred the suspect to a hospital for treatment after recording his statement.

Another community member disclosed that the suspect claimed he was instructed in Ghana to carry out the act. “He didn’t say much, just that he was directed to do this to his mother,” the source noted.

A resident, Kevwe, expressed relief that the victim’s screams attracted help. “Her body could have been abandoned on the roadside, and the boy might have fled without anyone knowing what happened,” he said.

The mother’s remains have been deposited at a morgue, while investigations continue.
