NURTW Crisis: MC Oluomo Vows He Will Crush To Achieve His Goals
Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has declared his unwavering commitment to leading the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), despite a recent Court of Appeal ruling invalidating his election as National President.
The court reinstated Tajudeen Baruwa as the legitimate leader of the NURTW in the place of MC Oluomo.
In the wake of the judgment, MC Oluomo has remained resolute, continuing his duties from the union’s office in Abuja. MC Oluomo who is a prominent ally of President Bola Tinubu has expressed his determination to overcome challenges and achieve his goals without distractions.
MC Oluomo shared a motivational message on social media following the court intervention, stating thus:
“IT’S TIME FOR NO DISTRACTIONS! Refocused. Recharged. Ready to Rock! I’m back to work, primed to:
Tackle ALL challenges head-on, crush my goals with precision and passion, and make today count with purpose and productivity. Opportunities, obstacles, successes – I’m ready! Today’s mindset: FOCUSED, DRIVEN, UNSTOPPABLE. Watch me SOAR!”
However, his claim to leadership faces further opposition. The Southwest Zonal Chairman of the NURTW, Olalekan Folorunsho (popularly known as Lekan Salami), asserted that MC Oluomo is no longer a member of the union.
Salami explained that MC Oluomo forfeited his membership in 2022 when he publicly destroyed his union identity card after receiving a disciplinary query from the national leadership. He also highlighted the constitutional process for rejoining the union:
“A returning member must submit a formal application to the national leadership, which is subject to approval. Furthermore, such a person must spend two years at the grassroots level before becoming eligible to seek any office.”
With these developments, the NURTW remains in a state of contention, as MC Oluomo’s claims to leadership face significant legal and constitutional challenges.
