Abimbola Craig marriage a scam

Nollywood actress Abimbola Craig has stirred discussions with her bold statement about marriage, calling it a “scam.”

She shared her perspective during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on the ‘WithChude’ podcast.

The actress criticized traditional marital roles that often place excessive responsibilities on women, particularly in managing households and catering to their spouses. She humorously referred to the title “Mrs” as an acronym for “Master’s in Residential Servicing,” highlighting the societal expectations tied to the role of a wife.

Explaining her personal stance on marriage, Craig said her decision to stay single is not rooted in opposition to the institution but in her desire for a partner who possesses self-awareness and purpose. She stated:
“All marriage is a scam. When I was small, my mum always told me marriage is an institution. She said when they call you ‘Mrs,’ it stands for ‘Master’s in Residential Servicing.’
I am not married, not because I do not want to be married, but if you are a man who does not know who he is, you cannot be with me.”

Known for her role as Tiwalade in the acclaimed web series ‘Skinny Girl in Transit’, Abimbola Craig has also made significant contributions to the film industry. She co-produced the 2019 blockbuster ‘Sugar Rush’ alongside renowned Nigerian filmmaker Jade Osiberu, further establishing her creative talents in Nollywood.

GWG.ng reports that the assertion by Abimbola Craig that marriage is a scam is bound to be controverted by many others who have found the institution pleasurable despite the challenges that go with it.
