Popular Female TVC Presenter In ‘Trouble’ Over Davido (Video)

Davido had in an interview advised Africans living abroad to delay relocating to Nigeria due to the country’s dire economic conditions, a statement that drew a strong attack from TVC’s Your View host, Akashat Ny’mat.

Many everyday Nigerians including Paulo Okoye have rallied behind Davido, applauding his honesty. Social media is flooded with comments from supporters who describe the singer’s remarks as a truthful reflection of the struggles faced by citizens, particularly under the current administration. They argue that basic needs, such as affording three square meals, have become increasingly out of reach for a significant portion of the population.

However, prominent voices, especially among Nigeria’s elite, have criticized the pop star. Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), condemned Davido for making such statements on a global platform, suggesting it could harm Nigeria’s image internationally.

Adding to the debate, Akashat Ny’mat, a presenter on TVC, also expressed her disapproval of Davido. Akashat Ny’mat argued that while Davido’s observation might hold some truth, it was inappropriate for someone of his stature to air such grievances on a global stage. “When the President takes a plane to a country to look for foreign investors, and a prominent figure like Davido says this, he is essentially telling them not to come,” Ny’mat said during her segment on the TVC programme.

Ny’mat’s comments triggered backlash on social media, with many Nigerians accusing her of bias against Davido. Some claimed her stance was influenced by her relationship to TVC, a station perceived to align with the current government. Others speculated about potential political ties within her family.

Despite the divided opinions, Davido’s comments have reignited discussions about Nigeria’s economic challenges and the role of public figures in addressing or highlighting such issues. For many citizens, his words is a cry for change, while others argue for discretion when discussing national matters on international platforms.

Read some netizens’ reactions to Akashat Ny’mat’s comment on Davido’s interview;

@wolex: The funniest thing is that the lady works for TVC station, and TVC is owned by President Tinubu.

So, what exactly do you guys expect her to say? Nobody will go against the system that feeds them. Even if they are doing wrong, you’ll still back them up.”
