Pastor Jerry Eze Opens Up On Trauma After Mother Was Beaten Up
Nigerian Pentecostal pastor, Jerry Uchechukwu Eze, founder and Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, shared a deeply personal story that has sparked mixed reactions online of how his mother was beaten up in his presence.
In a post on the X platform, Pastor Eze narrated the emotional encounter of meeting the woman who beat up his mother, now late.
In his post, he wrote, “So yesterday, I met a woman who beat up my late mum terribly. Anyone who knows me would know how much I adore my Mum. I was young and she was a young woman at the time and we lived in the same compound. She threw my mum on the floor and hit her so hard. That memory traumatized me for so long. She showed up to see me yesterday to seek for help and ask for prayers and mentioned how NSPPD had changed her life. It’s amazing how I extended help to her and she broke down in tears. She remembered what happened, I remembered too, most importantly, I HAD FORGIVEN. FORGIVENESS IS SO LIBERATING. I know it hurts, PLEASE FORGIVE !! The Holy Spirit will help you. May God give you the grace to forgive right now in Jesus’ name!!”
Pastor Jerry Eze’s post has gone viral, with people sharing their opinions and offering different views on forgiveness especially touching affections to his mother. While some followers have praised his ability to forgive, others have expressed skepticism, arguing that such actions are hard to accept, especially after enduring such a traumatic experience. Some online commentators have even pointed out that while forgiveness is vital, one should not be expected to forget the past.
Others defended Pastor Jerry Eze, emphasizing that his mother, who could not defend herself at the time, was not at fault. They suggested that the pastor’s response is an example of personal growth and a reflection of his deep Christian faith.
The story has sparked a larger conversation about the complexities of forgiveness, with many contemplating how one can heal from past wounds while maintaining their emotional peace.
