BREAKING: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Gets Second Term At WTO
The World Trade Organization (WTO) has confirmed the reappointment of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as its director-general for a second term.
Her new term will officially begin on September 1, 2025.
The announcement was made on the WTO’s official X platform, where the organization stated, “The General Council has appointed Director-General @NOIweala for a second term, effective 1 September 2025. More details to follow.”
As her current term approaches its conclusion, Okonjo-Iweala was the only candidate for the position. Earlier, on September 16, she had expressed her willingness to serve another four-year term.
