Zenith Bank Plc has officially launched its branch in Paris, France, marking a major milestone in its international expansion.

The commissioning ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 21 Rue de la Paix, with Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, presiding over the event.

The new Paris branch is a Third-Country Branch (TCB) of Zenith Bank (UK) Limited, a subsidiary of Zenith Bank Plc. This strategic move underscores the bank’s commitment to supporting its clients and strengthening trade ties across Europe and Africa.

At the event, Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, credited the bank’s Founder and Chairman, Dr. Jim Ovia, for his vision in establishing a globally recognized financial institution. Umeoji explained that the Paris branch reflects the bank’s strategy to extend its operations into major financial hubs.

“Our presence in Paris is designed to serve our customers better while fostering trade and finance relationships between France and other countries. With Nigeria accounting for 20% of France’s trade with Sub-Saharan Africa, Zenith Bank Paris will play a critical role in facilitating these connections,” Umeoji stated.

She also highlighted plans to expand further into Francophone Africa, beginning with Ivory Coast and Cameroon, to strengthen business flows between the region and France.

Finance Minister Wale Edun lauded the bank’s achievements, noting that the Paris branch exemplifies the global trust in Nigerian institutions.

“This event showcases the dividends of building trust around the world. The presence of Zenith Bank in Paris will help foster stronger ties between France and Nigeria, opening up more opportunities for trade and investment,” Edun remarked.

The high-profile commissioning was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Peter Mbah (Enugu). Business moguls like Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, and Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, were also present.

The Paris branch launch is a significant step in Zenith Bank’s global growth strategy, reinforcing its position as a leading financial institution connecting Africa with the world.
