The Kwara State Government has summoned a teacher, Fatima Amuzat, implicated in the alleged assault of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, pledging to take appropriate disciplinary action.

This was disclosed on Friday by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, who also quoted the Commissioner, Hajia Saadatu Modibbo-Kawu, condemning the incident that led to the assault on the female NYSC corps member.

The alleged assault occurred at Government Day Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, where a female NYSC corps member was reportedly attacked by teachers after visiting the school to collect her clearance letter. Sources suggest that the teachers were offended because she allegedly did not greet them properly.

In response, the ministry’s Anti-Loitering Team and officials from the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission conducted an unscheduled visit to the school to investigate and de-escalate tensions following the assault on the female NYSC corps member.

Hajia Modibbo-Kawu described the alleged act as “unacceptable,” emphasizing Kwara State’s reputation for peace and harmony in its educational institutions. She assured that the government would not tolerate actions that threaten the state’s values or disrupt its academic environment.

She appealed to the NYSC and all affected parties to remain calm and law-abiding while assuring them that justice would be served.

“The concerned teacher has been summoned, and necessary disciplinary procedures will be taken accordingly,” Amogbonjaye stated, affirming the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability.
