Bullet Charm: ‘Alleged Witches’ Concernd As Man Who Shot Himself Dissapears

The Advocacy for Alleged Witches (AfAW) has reported that Ismail Usman, the man who shot himself while testing a so-called ‘bulletproof’ charm, is no longer traceable.

In a statement issued on Monday, signed by Leo Igwe, the director of AfAW, the organization revealed that all efforts to locate Usman and offer him humanitarian support have proven unsuccessful.

Usman allegedly shot himself in the stomach while testing a charm known as “Odeshi,” a practice that is believed to make individuals invulnerable to bullets. AfAW had planned to assist Usman and use his case for public education, but these efforts have been delayed because there is no information on his current whereabouts.

The advocacy group reached out to the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to propose offering humanitarian aid to Usman. In response, the Commissioner referred AfAW to the FCT police public relations officer, who in turn directed them to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Byazin, where the incident took place. During a phone conversation with the DPO, AfAW was informed that Usman was not at the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, as initially reported.

The DPO further explained that while Usman had been referred to the hospital, he never arrived. It was later suggested that Usman had returned to Katsina, and his whereabouts remain unknown. The police have been unable to trace his location, and as a result, AfAW’s plans to provide assistance have been put on hold.

In the statement, Igwe emphasized, “The Advocacy for Alleged Witches informs the public that Mr. Ismail Usman, the man who shot himself in the stomach in the process of testing a ‘bulletproof’ charm known in some parts of the country as Odeshi, can no longer be traced.”
