Arsenal fan killed

An Arsenal fan in Uganda, John Ssenyonga, tragically lost his life while celebrating the club’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United in a Premier League match on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at a restaurant in Lukaya town, located about 100km from Kampala, Uganda’s capital.

According to reports, a security guard opened fire on a crowd of jubilant Arsenal supporters after the manager of the restaurant became irritated by the noise. The building’s manager had reportedly tried to stop the celebration by turning off the power, which escalated the situation.

Witnesses said the guard was asked to intervene when the fans refused to quiet down. The guard then allegedly fired several shots into the crowd, fatally wounding Ssenyonga, who was 30 years old. Another fan, Lawrence Mugejera, was injured and taken to the hospital.

Both the security guard and the manager fled the scene after the shooting. The police have since recovered a firearm and are searching for the suspects.

Regional police spokesman Twaha Kasirye condemned the incident and urged the public to come forward with any information to assist the investigation. He also called on fans to manage their excitement during celebrations.
