Governor’s Mum Escapes, Sister Shot As Gunmen Attack

Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Jumai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, and her daughter, Atsi Kefas, on Thursday, December 5. The incident occurred along Kente Road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The chairman of Wukari council, Dauda Samaila Agbu, confirmed the attack and expressed sadness over the event. He described it as “deeply troubling” and revealed that Atsi Kefas was injured by a gunshot during the attack.

“She was first treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari before being transferred to Abuja for further medical attention. Her condition was stabilised before she was airlifted,” he said.

Agbu called for calm among residents and assured them that steps are being taken to apprehend the attackers.

The Taraba State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the incident.

According to him, it was classified as an armed robbery. However, he did not confirm any connection between the victims and the governor.

One person in the vehicle was reportedly injured by gunfire, but as of now, the state government has not issued an official statement regarding the attack.
