Chelsea player, Marc Cucurella had to change his boots after two slips on the ground on his part helped Tottenham Hotspur a two goal lead in the first 11 minutes of the game.

Chelsea then made a stunning comeback to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 at home. The game saw Chelsea recover from the two-goal early deficit, with Cole Palmer playing a key role. His calm ‘Panenka’ penalty helped turn the tide in Chelsea’s favor, while goals from Jadon Sancho and Enzo Fernandez, alongside two penalties from Palmer, piled pressure on Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham started the match strongly, taking a 2-0 lead within the first 11 minutes. Dominic Solanke scored early after Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella slipped, and just six minutes later, Dejan Kulusevski capitalized on another defensive mistake to extend Spurs’ advantage. Cucurella, struggling with his footing, signaled for a change of boots as the Chelsea defense struggled.

Chelsea slowly found their rhythm, with Sancho’s composed dribbling and precise shot bringing them back into the game. Palmer and Levi Colwill also looked dangerous, and Tottenham had a close call when Pape Matar Sarr’s header hit the bar.

In the second half, Chelsea took advantage of injuries to Tottenham’s key defenders, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, as well as winger Brennan Johnson. Palmer converted his first penalty after being fouled by Yves Bissouma, and his second, won after being pushed by Sarr, showcased his composure under pressure. Fernandez’s powerful strike further boosted Chelsea’s lead.

Tottenham’s hopes were dashed, although Son Heung-min did manage a late goal from a short corner, giving Spurs a consolation goal. The decisions to start Romero and van de Ven in the wake of Tottenham’s recent loss to Bournemouth may now come under scrutiny.
