APC Chief Backtracks On Claims That Osun Is No Go-Area
A member of the House of Representatives for Doguwa/Tudun Wada Constituency, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has apologized to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State over his comments last weekend that Osun State appears to be a no-go area for the party given the impressive works of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The apology follows a misunderstanding over comments he made during the Ede Day celebration. Doguwa attended the event on Saturday, representing the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.
According to Doguwa, his remarks at the event were misrepresented by the media team of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He claimed that the PDP manipulated his words to gain political advantage. “I was quoted out of context.
Ado-Doguwa, at the event, had said, “For the few hours we have been around in this state, especially in the state capital, Osogbo, and coming to Ede Kingdom, we have seen a lot of developmental projects and developmental programmes starting from infrastructure, human resources development.
“With the kind of political strength I have seen here, with the dexterity and so much doggedness of yourself (referring to Governor Ademola Adeleke) in your humble personality, it appears to me that Osun is like a no go area.”
The remarks forced the Osun APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi to issue a statement that Doguwa’s remarks had harmed the party’s image.
Explaining himself, Doguwa explained. “The PDP media team in Osun misused my jokes to attack our party, APC, in the context of their local political tussles. It was indeed quite unfortunate; they used my innocent comments to score cheap political gains.” He reassured his party members of his loyalty and commitment to the APC, adding that he believes the party will reclaim Osun State from the PDP in the 2026 elections.
“I wish to tender my sincere and unreserved apology to our APC family in Osun State. Please accept my profound and heartfelt apologies. By God’s grace, the days of the PDP are numbered in Osun State. In 2026, our party will bounce back in the state, Insha Allah,” Doguwa stated.
Doguwa emphasized his long-standing dedication to the APC. “I will always remain a loyal and proud member of the APC, the largest political party in Africa. As a founding member of the APC, I’m the chief promoter of the party not only in Kano but across the country,” he said.
He concluded by urging APC members in Osun to forgive any perceived misstep. “I urge my APC compatriots in Osun to accept my apologies for what may have appeared to be underlying comments or statements against my party. I never meant to undermine or embarrass my mother’s party for any reason whatsoever. Thank you.”
