Critics Rebuf Mockers Of Governor’s Poor Budget Delivery (Video)
A video of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, fumbling to pronounce the N605 billion figure during his presentation of the state’s 2025 budget has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Governor Okpebholo presented the “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo” at the Edo State House of Assembly. The budget reflects a 25% increase over the previous year’s allocation, emphasizing ambitious development goals.
Despite a brief stumble over the figure, Okpebholo continued his address, outlining the allocation of N223 billion (37%) for recurrent expenditure and N381 billion (63%) for capital projects.
“This budget represents extensive consultations and reaffirms our commitment to delivering on our five-point agenda: security, infrastructural development, healthcare, food sufficiency, and education,” Okpebholo said.

Okpebholo announced a landmark allocation of N162 billion to road infrastructure projects, including the Ramat Park flyover in Benin City, a transformative initiative aimed at modernizing the city’s transportation system.
The video of his slip-up, however, has overshadowed these announcements, drawing mixed reactions online. While some netizens expressed amusement, others focused on the broader implications of the budget’s ambitious plans.
