Man Stabs Mother To Death Over Alleged Destiny Blockage
There was a tense situation in Elebele Community, located in Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, when a 22-year-old man named Godwin allegedly stabbed his mother to death.
The attack was said to have been driven by the belief that his mother was preventing him from achieving success and wealth.
Residents shared that Godwin had returned to the community a few weeks ago after spending several months in Benin City, Edo State. Upon his return, he began acting unusually. Some locals reported that Godwin claimed a native doctor had told him that his late mother was responsible for blocking his destiny and wealth.
Precious Okala, the Youth President of Elebele, confirmed the tragic incident. He explained that when they arrived at the scene, they found the victim’s body covered in blood. The community’s youths were able to capture Godwin, who was arrested shortly after the attack.
“We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, Edo State, he had been behaving strangely. On that day, it was reported that he argued with his mother and then stabbed her in the stomach with a knife,” Okala explained. “The boy was heard saying that a ‘Baba’ had told him his mother was holding his destiny and wealth.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, mentioned that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
